'Tank Reg' gets its turn in the bodyshop

Following the excellent bodywork restoration on Great Gable and 45108, (see the pics below), now its the turn of 45041, Royal Tank Regiment. In this picture, the rotten bodywork has been cut away on the cabside, ready for new metal to be welded in. Since this photo was taken, the nose crown has also been unbolted and removed ready for repairs. More photos will be added to the photo galleries soon.

D4 and 45108 are seen here in their new ex-works paint jobs, ready for the 50th anniversary event in September. Congratulations go to our hard working restoration team, who have done a fantastic job as always.

The return of 45108!

After more than a year of hard work by the restoration team, 45108 was finally started up on September 13th and is seen here outside the Main Shed at Swanwick, next to 45041. As far as we know, the last time 108 was started was at the Crewe LNWR workshops about 8 years ago, when she was used as a carriage heating loco. This use stopped when the air pipes were found to be rotten, as well as various electrical faults.
