D8 Penyghent is booked to work at Peak Rail’s diesel and steam event over the weekend of 14th/15th May. In addition D8 is planned to work sharing services on Saturday 11th June with 31270 and sharing services with 37152 on Saturday 16th July.

D8 Penyghent took part in the Peak Rail Santa Specials working top and tailed with a J94 steam loco. D8 was to be found on the North end of the 6 coach trains and was booked to haul 4 trips per day over 7 dates during December.

44008 Penyghent worked services at the Peak Rail Anything Goes event held over the weekend of 10th and 11th July. Initially D8 was only booked to haul two demonstration freight trains on each day of the event, but due to the failure of 47635 on Sunday 11th July, D8 hauled the 16:10 Rowsley South to Matlock Riverside and the 16:40 return.

44008 Penyghent worked services at the Peak Rail diesel gala held over the weekend of 8th and 9th May and the loco is expected to also feature at the railways Anything Goes event which is being held over the weekend of 10th and 11th July.

44008 Penyghent was booked to work Peak Rail Santa Special services top and tailed with a steam loco on Wednesday 23rd and Thursday 24th December. The loco should see some work over the Peak Rail diesel gala weekend 8th and 9th May.

44008 Penyghent took part in the Peak Rail Mixed Traffic event held over the weekend of 10th/11th October. A change of plan due to the unavailability of 47635 meant hat D8 worked passenger and freight trains on both days of the event alongside 37152 and two steam locos. D8 is expected to work some of the Peak Rail Santa Special services top and tailed with a steam loco.

44008 Penyghent has been allocated to work at Peak Rail Mixed Traffic event which is being held over the weekend of 10th/11th October. Unfortunately it appears that D8 is only booked to haul freight trains at the event, with the passenger services being in the hands of steam loco 8624 and class 47 47635.

44008 Penyghent had a spare set of injectors overhauled and fitted over the Winter. The loco developed a fault that meant that even when the master controller was moved to the off position, the triple pump continued to run. This was traced to a dirty contactor. The loco has also had a corroded pipe in the cab bulkhead repaired recently.
D8 was used in some filming work for a show called Skeletons during May and took part in the Peak Rail diesel gala over the weekend of 27th/28th June. D8 hauled two passenger and one freight train on each day of the diesel gala. The loco hauled all services at Peak Rail on Saturday 25th July as a 50th anniversary celebration event (even though its actual date into traffic was the 18th December 1959). The loco had been specially cleaned using a caravan wash cleaning agent which made the loco shine. A special headboard ‘D8 Penyghent 1959 – 2009’ was also carried during the day.

44008 Penyghent is planned to take part in the Peak Rail diesel gala held over the weekend of 27th/28th June and a 50th anniversary running day on Saturday 25th July.

44008 Penyghent has a 50th anniversary running day at Peak Rail on Saturday 25th July, where the loco is expected to haul all of the days services. It is also expected that the loco will take part in the Peak Rail diesel gala over the weekend of 27th/28th June.

44008 Penyghent did not haul the Peak Rail Halloween special top and tailed with a steam loco as it had been booked to on Friday 31st October because the event was cancelled. D8 did haul Santa Special trains at Peak Rail in top and tail formation with a steam loco on 7th, 14th, 21st and 23rd December. Departures were from Rowsley South at 11:00, 12:35, 14:04 & 15:39 with D8 on the North end of the trains.

44008 Penyghent hauled all of the services at Peak Rail on Saturday 4th October starting with the 11:00 Darley Dale to Matlock Riverside and finishing with the 16:28 Matlock Riverside to Rowsley South before running light engine back to Darley Dale. The loco was also booked to work top and tailed with a steam loco at the Peak Rail Halloween event on Friday 31st October. D8 is booked to haul Santa Special trains at Peak Rail top and tailed with a steam loco on 7th, 14th, 21st and 23rd December.
